Meditation is part of ancient Tibetan philosophy and one of the most frequently practiced mindfulness and relaxation techniques in the world. It has powerful benefits and positive effects on our body and mind. Nowadays, many people are trying to achieve a relaxed, stress-free lifestyle that is suitable for all phases of life, especially due to the changing world of work, digitized life and social media. Meditation can help us reduce stress, anxiety and depression, increase our concentration and productivity, and connect us with our inner peace. Modern meditation is a new, non-spiritual, scientifically based approach to mindfulness that aims to develop awareness of the present and reduce rumination, negative emotions and overwhelming fears. Further benefits include: better psychological well-being, greater self-confidence, greater willingness to cooperate, better motivation, better problem solving, strengthened immune function, better sleep, higher job satisfaction, reduction of chronic pain and high blood pressure, and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Many people think that meditation is only for Zen masters and experts, but that is not the case. Anyone can learn to meditate if they are willing to engage with it and enjoy it. There are many different types of meditation, so everyone can find a suitable method that works best for them. Many people fail at meditation because they think that you can only meditate in the lotus position. That is of course completely outdated. Meditation doesn't care what position you are in. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and adopt a comfortable posture. You can meditate in an office chair, in a living room chair, in a hanging chair on the terrace, or lying down, sitting or walking in the park. Just make sure you feel comfortable. We often hear that the mind should not wander while meditating. But that's not true. We can think about anything we want during meditation, the important thing is that after a while we return to the object of our concentration. In summary: There are hardly any limits to modern meditation and the selection of options is endless.
